Edmonton to Calgary to Fairmont

Sunday. Your “Hot Springs Getaway” begins as you are welcomed aboard your deluxe coach in Edmonton.  Travel south via Red Deer to Calgary, meeting additional travelling companions enroute.  Sit back and enjoy the incredible scenery of the Canadian Rockies as you travel through Banff National Park and the majestic Kootenay National Park.  Our destination is the Fairmont Hot Springs, a premier resort.  Leave your worries behind as you experience the therapeutic warmth of the odorless mineral spring waters.

Fairmont to Nelson

Monday. (4 nights) The morning is free to relax in one of three mineral spring pools or go for a scenic walk. Enjoy the scenery as you travel through Cranbrook and into the fertile Creston Valley where the main industry is fruit growing. Drive by the GLASS HOUSE, built with 500,000 square-shaped embalming fluid bottles, weighing 250 tons. Follow the picturesque route along the Kootenay Valley to Kootenay Bay. Take the longest free FERRY RIDE in North America to Balfour. Then follow the north shore of the west arm of Kootenay Lake and travel south on one of the most scenic routes in Canada to Nelson for a four night stay at the beautiful Prestige Lakeside Resort.

Nelson

Tuesday. This morning discover a town with historic storybook charm and stunning geography as you join our GUIDED TOUR. Enjoy an optional lunch in one of Nelson’s many outstanding coffee shops and restaurants with time to shop on Baker Street. In the afternoon take a scenic drive along the shore of Kootenay Lake to AINSWORTH HOT SPRINGS and experience the curative powers of the hot springs. Visit the horseshoe shaped cave where natural hot waters emanate eternally.

Nelson

Wednesday. A free morning will allow time to get acquainted with your home-away-from-home. After lunch board STREET CAR #23 in front of your hotel for a ride along the lake on a fully-restored electric tramway.

Nelson

Thursday.  First stop on our AREA TOUR is KASLO, a historic silver-mining town.  There will be time to tour the tree-lined streets and vintage buildings of the village and visit the SS MOYIE, the last CPR sternwheeler to ply the Kootenay Lake.   Continue to NEW DENVER to visit the NIKKEI INTERNMENT MEMORIAL CENTRE and learn the tragic story of the internment of thousands of Canadians of Japanese descent during WWII.  Return to Nelson for overnight.

Nelson to Golden

Friday.  Depart Nelson, follow the picturesque route along Slocan Lake, travel past Nakusp to HALCYON HOT SPRINGS and a relaxing afternoon.  Surrounded by alpine peaks, crystal-clear lakes, an abundance of wildlife and a magical legend, this place of recreation and wellness offers four pools of differing temperatures.  After enjoying the hot spring pools and a PICNIC LUNCH follow the Upper Arrow Lake to Galena Bay for a short FERRY ride to Shelter Bay and your overnight stay at Golden.

Golden to Calgary to Edmonton

Saturday. Today it’s homeward bound! Enjoy a short DRIVING TOUR OF BANFF prior to lunch in Canmore.  Arrive mid-afternoon in Calgary and then continue to Edmonton.
