Edmonton to Calgary to Bonners Ferry

Friday.  Your Scenic California Holiday begins as you are welcomed aboard your deluxe coach in Edmonton.  Meet additional travelling companions as you travel south via Red Deer to Calgary.  Lethbridge passengers boarding the coach in Fort Macleod will be dropped off in Lethbridge on the return trip.  Continue to Cranbrook, BC. Cross the Canadian/American border and arrive in Bonners Ferry for overnight.

Bonners Ferry to Bend

Saturday. Travel through three American states all in one day: Idaho, Washington and Oregon.   After lunch motor along the mighty Columbia River.   Continue to Bend, bordered by DESCHUTES NATIONAL FOREST and the Cascade Mountains.

Bend to San Francisco

(2 nights) Sunday.  Enjoy a scenic drive as you view the Cascades, a National Forest and travel through the Sacramento Valley of California.  Cross the Oakland Bay Bridge and arrive in San Francisco, the “City by the Bay” for a two-night stay at the Sheraton Fishermans Wharf. Your hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to Fishermans Wharf, Pier 39 and the Cable Car Lines.

Monday. This morning enjoy a GUIDED TOUR of one of the most exciting and best-loved cities in the world. Your sightseeing excursion includes a ride on a world-famous CABLE CAR to
Union Square as well as a panoramic view of San Francisco and the bay area from the top of Twin Peaks. Enjoy PIER 39 with time for lunch and browsing before taking a spectacular San Francisco BAY CRUISE.

San Francisco to Monterey

(2 nights) Tuesday.  Travel to the beautiful coastal city of Monterey and drive out to the Monterey Peninsula, viewing a parade of impressive homes and lovely beaches.  A local guide will accompany us while travelling along the 17 MILE DRIVE, renowned as one of the most scenic coastal routes in the world.  See such famous sights as PEBBLE BEACH and its famous golf course; the Lone Cypress Tree, perhaps the most photographed tree in the world; Spy Glass Hill; and Seal Rock, where the seals may actually bark at you.  Spend two nights in Monterey.

Wednesday.  Visit the MONTEREY BAY AQUARIUM today, featuring some 200 exhibits on marine life.  The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy as you wish.  You may want to explore CANNERY ROW, the historic waterfront district made famous by John Steinbeck.

Monterey to Solvang

(2 nights) Thursday. Arrive at San Simeon to visit HEARST CASTLE, the 1,234 acre estate of publishing magnate, William Randolph Hearst. This estate is like nothing you have ever seen. A GUIDED TOUR brings to life the opulent lifestyle of its former resident and guests. (Note: if you require a handicapped accessible tour, please notify us well in advance to make arrangements). Continue to the quaint town of Solvang for two nights. Delight in the Danish heritage, picturesque buildings and windmills.

Friday.  Today is yours to explore the “Danish Capital of America”. Founded by Danish immigrants in 1911, Solvang boasts authentic architecture, thatched roofs, old-world craftsmanship and traditional windmills.  As you stroll the European-style streets in this charming pedestrian-friendly village enjoy the many museums and shops. There are a variety of restaurants featuring local and international cuisine for your enjoyment.

Solvang to Hollywood to Long Beach

Saturday.  Seaside Santa Barbara is your next visit along California’s Gold Coast.  Continue to Los Angeles and enjoy a DRIVING TOUR OF HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD.  Stop to stroll the Walk of Fame at MANN’S CHINESE THEATRE and see the famous hand/footprints imbedded in the sidewalk.  Travel to the Long Beach area for a WALKING TOUR OF THE HISTORIC QUEEN MARY.  You will see re-creations of cabins from the war years and its many years as a luxury cruise liner.  It is now a floating hotel and your home for overnight.

Long Beach to San Diego

(2 nights) Sunday. Follow the steps of the Spanish missionaries that settled this region of the country.  Tour MISSION SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, keeping a sharp eye out for the famous swallows (learn why and when they return each year). Continue to beautiful San Diego for a ONE-HOUR CRUISE of the San Diego harbour. Arrive at your hotel for two nights to enjoy this pretty oceanside city known for its mild climate.

Monday.  All aboard for a tram tour of the world famous SAN DIEGO ZOO set in beautiful Balboa Park.  Spend the afternoon at your leisure exploring San Diego’s historic and cultural attractions.

Tuesday.  (2 nights)  Travel through mountainous desert scenery to Palm Springs, one of America’s most popular desert resort areas for two nights.  Accommodation is at the beautiful downtown Hyatt Palm Springs.  This enjoyable property features 197 suites located near shops, restaurants and entertainment and within walking distance of the casino.  All rooms boast a hairdryer, coffeemaker, iron/board, fridge, separate living room, private balcony, safe and complimentary wifi.  A daily happy hour with discounted drinks and complimentary snacks, a heated outdoor pool and hot tub will add to your enjoyment.

Palm Springs to Las Vegas

Thursday. Bid farewell to your place in the sun. Travel across the Mojave Desert to Las Vegas where glitter and glamour are passwords and neon lights flash day and night. Tonight enjoy the one-of-a-kind FREMONT STREET EXPERIENCE at your doorstep! Your hotel, the Golden Nugget, is located on Fremont Street in the midst of the action. Watch the Light and Sound Shows – displays of super sized animation and high-resolution special effects on a canopy 90 feet overhead. There are kiosks, shops and an overhead zip-line on this “pedestrian-only” street for your added enjoyment.

Las Vegas to Ogden

Friday.  Leave the state of Nevada and cross a small corner of Arizona which features a drive through the beautiful VIRGIN RIVER CANYON.  Travel into the state of Utah known for its beautiful Mormon temples.  Continue to Ogden for overnight.

Ogden to Great Falls

Saturday.  Travel north through the state of Idaho, enter the state of Montana and arrive in Great Falls for a HOSTED FAREWELL DINNER with your new-found friends.
