Edmonton to Calgary to Cranbrook

Monday. All aboard for a scenic tour to the Pacific Northwest and California. Depart Edmonton, meeting additional travel companions as you head south via Red Deer to Calgary.  Lethbridge passengers board the coach in Fort Macleod but will be dropped off in Lethbridge on the return trip.  Continue to the St. Eugene Resort & Casino in Cranbrook, BC for overnight.

Cranbrook to The Dalles

 Tuesday.  Cross the Canada/US border and make your way through three Pacific Northwest states: Idaho, Washington and Oregon.  Your destination is The Dalles for overnight at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott located near Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

The Dalles to Newport

Wednesday.  Today experience the soul of the Columbia, the grand river of the American West.  Large dams and fish ladders dot the picturesque route to Portland, where you swing west to the rugged Oregon coast.  Take in the sights as you travel south on the spectacular Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, ending your day at the oceanfront Elizabeth Oceanfront Suites in Newport, home of Oregon’s largest fishing fleet.

Newport to North Bend

 Thursday.  Enjoy the scenery today as you wind along the coastal route marked by endless bays and jagged rocks pounded by ocean surf.  After a leisurely lunch in OLD TOWN FLORENCE, enter the unusual landscape of the OREGON DUNES NATIONAL RECREATION AREA.  This extraordinary area contains huge hills and deep valleys of sand, several lakes and numerous “ghost” forests created by the timeless action of the wind moving the massive sand dunes.  Tonight, stay at the Mill Casino Hotel, overlooking the beautiful Coos Bay in North Bend.

North Bend to Eureka

 Friday.  Continuing south, enter California redwood country, stopping in the famous REDWOOD NATIONAL PARK, a place where the trees are so tall the sun seldom hits the ground!  Arrive at the Best Western Plus Humboldt Bay Inn in downtown Eureka for overnight.

Eureka to San Francisco

 (2 nights) Saturday.  Discover the charming Victorian architecture and colourful murals on a  drive through Eureka.  Marvel at the towering redwood trees as your motorcoach navigates the AVENUE OF THE GIANTS, known as the finest forest drive in the world.  Visit the informative HUMBOLDT REDWOODS STATE PARK headquarters.  Have a tasty PICNIC LUNCH amidst the majestic trees before continuing south. Cross the legendary Golden Gate Bridge into the “City by the Bay”.  Arrive in San Francisco for a two-night stay at the Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman’s Wharf.  Your hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39 and the iconic cable car lines.

San Francisco

Sunday.  This morning, a GUIDED TOUR will introduce you to one of the most exciting and best-loved cities in the world.  Your sightseeing excursion includes a ride on a world-famous CABLE CAR to Union Square and a panoramic view of San Francisco and the bay area from the top of Twin Peaks. Arrive PIER 39 in time for lunch, browsing time and a one-hour San Francisco BAY CRUISE.  The rest of the day is yours to enjoy in this fascinating city.  Return to your hotel for overnight.

San Francisco to Napa

(2 nights) Monday.  Leave the city behind as you move north to the idyllic Napa Valley for a two-night stay.  The birthplace of the California wine industry, this 17‑mile-long valley is lined with hundreds of acres of vineyards where many world-class wines are created.  Enjoy a winery tour and tasting at STERLING VINEYARDS where an aerial tram carries visitors up the hill to the winery and offers unparalleled panoramic views of Napa Valley.  Continue to the Best Western Plus Inn at the Vines.

 Tuesday.  A free day offers time to take the *optional Napa Valley Wine Train which includes a gourmet lunch.  Your Tour Director can also assist you with other activities that might interest you.

Napa to Lake Tahoe to Virginia City to Reno

 Wednesday.  Today journey over the Sierra Nevada mountains, sometimes called the “Range of Light,” due to its faintly-coloured peaks.  Make a brief stop in the resort and gambling town of SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, home to the largest alpine lake in North America.  Continue on to VIRGINIA CITY for a GUIDED TOUR with time to wander on the wooden sidewalks of this famous old-west mining town.  Continue to Reno, the “Biggest Little City in the World”, to stay at Circus Circus Hotel Casino.

Reno to Jackpot

 Thursday.  Bid farewell to Reno, then pass through the semi-arid landscape of northern Nevada to the popular casino town of Jackpot.  Spend the night at Cactus Petes Resort Casino.

Jackpot to Great Falls

 Friday.  Travel north across the state of Idaho, and enter Montana, also known as “Big Sky Country”.  Arrive at the Holiday Inn Great Falls for your last evening together.  Share favourite trip highlights with your fellow travellers at a HOSTED FAREWELL DINNER.

Great Falls to Calgary to Edmonton

 Saturday.  Stop at the duty free store and then re-enter Canada.  Return home with fond memories of your holiday.
