Edmonton to Calgary to Swift Current

Sunday. Your Journey to the Heartland of America begins as you are welcomed aboard your deluxe coach in Edmonton. Travel south via Red Deer to Calgary meeting additional travelling companions enroute. A stop is made in Medicine Hat before crossing the Alberta/Saskatchewan border and arriving in Swift Current for overnight. Join your fellow passengers for an informal WELCOME RECEPTION.

Monday. Saskatchewan passengers join the tour as you travel through Moose Jaw, Regina, Weyburn and Estevan before crossing the Canadian/American border. Continue south through North Dakota to Minot.

Tuesday. Travel to Fargo, enter South Dakota and overnight in Watertown.

Thursday. Travel through Kansas and part of Oklahoma on your way to Oklahoma City for overnight.

Oklahoma City to Fort Worth

(2 nights) Friday. This morning we travel into Texas, the Lonestar State.Arrive in the dynamic Dallas/Fort Worth area known for millionaires and urban cowboys for a two night stay. This afternoon stroll through the national historic district of the FORT WORTH STOCKYARDS. Discover the mystique of cattle drives, the early days of cowboys, livestock and meat packing industries.

Saturday. Get ready to saddle up for a full morning exploring Dallas with your LOCAL GUIDE. You’ll visit the outstanding John F. Kennedy Memorial exhibit, “THE SIXTH FLOOR MUSEUM”. Later this afternoon, travel a short distance back to your Fort Worth hotel. You may want to return to the excitement of the stockyards on your own this evening.

Fort Worth to San Antonio

(2 nights) Sunday. Leave the skyscrapers of Dallas behind and travel to San Antonio, a city which expresses the soul of Texas.

Monday. Enjoy a GUIDED TOUR of one of America’s most unique cities. Some options for the afternoon: shop at the Mexican market, visit the Alamo and perhaps view the Imax film presentation of the famous battle. Balance of the day is free to explore the Riverwalk , San Antonio’s shopping and entertainment center.

San Antonio to Corpus Christi

(2 nights) Tuesday. Today it’s on to beautiful Corpus Christi on the Gulf of Mexico. You will see lots of crab boats here as crabbing is a major industry. Enjoy an AREA TOUR of Corpus Christi, where every day is a tropical fiesta with over 130 miles of beaches. Arrive at your hotel for two nights.

Wednesday. The morning is free to explore on your own. You have a choice this afternoon to either enjoy a self-guided tour of the aircraft carrier USS LEXINGTON or visit the TEXAS STATE AQUARIUM.

Thursday. Today travel to Houston, the fourth largest city in the USA and the centre for space exploration, often referred to as “the closest thing to space on earth”. Visit MISSION CONTROL HOUSTON at Johnson Space Center.

Houston to Lafayette

(2 nights) Friday. Welcome to Louisiana, a land of churning paddlewheelers, simmering gumbos and mysterious swamps. Travel to Lafayette, the heart of Cajun Country and the town immortalized in Longfellow’s epic poem “Evangeline”. A visit to MARTIN ACCORDIONS will take you back to the early 1900’s with live old-fashioned accordion music played by the family band. Enjoy cajun, country, gospel and zydeco music, a history of cajun music and a fun time!

Saturday. Join your travelling companions on a sightseeing boat for an adventurous SWAMP TOUR through moss-draped trees. Your guide will take you into the interior of one of America’s greatest river swamps pointing out the local indigenous plants and wildlife.

Monday. A CITY TOUR details the landmarks, legends and architecture that made the “Crescent City” famous. In the afternoon
enjoy a narrated cruise on the Sternwheeler Steamboat Natche z. You will have an opportunity to explore the charm of the French Quarter’s narrow streets, quaint courtyards and sidewalk cafes.

(2 nights) Tuesday. Depart from the “Jazz Capital of the World” and continue to Memphis, Tennessee, home of Graceland and “the Blues” for a two-night stay.

Wednesday. Enjoy a GUIDED CITY TOUR that includes downtown Memphis, the Mississippi River, Cotton Row and a stop at the
world-famous PEABODY HOTEL for the DUCK MARCH. The highlight of this day is a visit to GRACELAND MANSION, which includes a digital audio guide narrated by Elvis’ daughter, Lisa Marie.

Thursday. Depart Tennessee and head north to Kansas City, Missouri.

Friday. Continue your travels northward into South Dakota to Sioux Falls and then west to Mitchell for overnight.

Mitchell to Hill City

Saturday. After a stop at the unique WALL DRUGS visit two of the world’s greatest mountain carvings. MOUNT RUSHMORE NATIONAL MEMORIAL depicts four presidents’ faces and is the world’s largest mountain carving. It was sculpted from the granite of the Black Hills from 1929 to 1941. 2016 was the 75th Anniversary of the completion of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Then visit CRAZY HORSE MEMORIAL, an ongoing sculpture being carved in tribute to the North American Indian. Overnight in Hill City in the heart of the BLACK HILLS NATIONAL FOREST.

Hill City to Williston

Sunday. Make a morning stop at DEADWOOD, South Dakota, made famous by Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane. This town is very reminiscent of the wild frontier and mining days. Enter North Dakota and continue your travels to Williston for overnight. Join your travelling companions this evening for a HOSTED FAREWELL DINNER.
