Edmonton to Calgary to Revelstoke

Saturday. Your Hot Springs Getaway begins as you are welcomed aboard your deluxe coach in Edmonton.  Travel south via Red Deer to Calgary, meeting additional travel companions enroute.  Cross the border into British Columbia and enjoy the spectacular scenery as you wind your way over the majestic ROGER’S PASS.  Located at the base of the western slopes of the Selkirk Mountains, and founded in 1880 when the Canadian Pacific Railway built through the area, Revelstoke will be your mountain valley hideaway for tonight.  Enjoy a GET ACQUAINTED WELCOME DINNER with your fellow travellers.

Three Valley Gap to Nelson

(3 nights) Sunday. Travel to Revelstoke then continue south to Shelter Bay for a short FERRY ride to Galena Bay. Enjoy a stop at HALCYON HOT SPRINGS with time for lunch and to relax in the pools.  Surrounded by alpine peaks, crystal-clear lakes, an abundance of wildlife and a magical legend, this place of recreation and wellness offers four pools of differing temperatures. Travel past Nakusp to NEW DENVER where you will stop at the NIKKEI INTERNMENT MEMORIAL CENTRE and learn the tragic story of the internment of thousands of Canadians of Japanese descent during WWII.  Follow the picturesque route along Slocan Lake to Nelson for a three-night stay.

Nelson

Monday. This morning discover a town with historic storybook charm and stunning geography as you join our GUIDED TOUR. Enjoy an optional lunch in one of Nelson’s many outstanding coffee shops and restaurants with time to shop on Baker Street.  After lunch board STREETCAR #23 for a ride along the lake on a fully-restored electric tramway.

Nelson

 Tuesday. Enjoy the scenic drive along the shore of Kootenay Lake as you travel to KASLO, a historic silver-mining town.  There will be time to tour the tree-lined streets and vintage buildings of the village and visit the S.S. MOYIE, the last CPR sternwheeler to ply Kootenay Lake. In the afternoon, stop at AINSWORTH HOT SPRINGS and embrace the curative powers of the warm mineral waters in a natural cave and pool. Return to Nelson for overnight.

Nelson to Fairmont

 (2 nights) Wednesday. Depart Nelson, following the north shore of Kootenay Lake on one of the most scenic routes in Canada to Balfour. Take the longest free FERRY RIDE in North America to Kootenay Bay. Follow the picturesque route along the Kootenay Valley. Drive by the GLASS HOUSE, built with 500,000 square-shaped embalming fluid bottles, weighing 250 tons. Enjoy the scenery as you travel through the fertile Creston Valley, where the main industry is fruit growing. Travel north through Cranbrook and continue to Fairmont Hot Springs Resort for two nights.

 Thursday. A FREE DAY to enjoy the resort and FAIRMONT POOLS on your own. Leave your worries behind as you relax and experience the therapeutic warmth of the odorless mineral spring waters.

Fairmont to Calgary to Edmonton

 Friday.  Today it’s homeward bound!  Enjoy a short DRIVING TOUR OF BANFF with lunch enroute.  Arrive mid-afternoon in Calgary and then continue to Edmonton.
