Edmonton to Calgary to Swift Current

Monday.  Your Journey to the Wild West of America begins as you are welcomed aboard your deluxe coach in Edmonton.  Travel south via Red Deer to Calgary meeting additional travel companions enroute.  A stop is made in Medicine Hat before crossing the Alberta/Saskatchewan border and arriving in Swift Current for overnight.

Swift Current to Minot

Tuesday. Saskatchewan passengers join the tour as you travel through Moose Jaw, Regina, Weyburn and Estevan before crossing the Canadian/American border.  Continue south through North Dakota to Minot.

Wednesday. Travel to Fargo, enter South Dakota and overnight in Watertown.  Enjoy an included PIZZA PARTY with your travel companions at the hotel.

(2 nights) Saturday. This morning we travel into Texas, the Lone Star State.  Arrive in the dynamic Dallas/Fort Worth area known for millionaires and urban cowboys for a two-night stay.  This afternoon stroll through the national historic district of the FORT WORTH STOCKYARDS.   Discover the mystique of cattle drives, the early days of cowboys, livestock and meatpacking industries.  Stay in the heart of downtown Fort Worth at the Hampton Inn.

Fort Worth

Sunday.  Get ready to saddle up for a full morning exploring Dallas with your LOCAL GUIDE.  Dallas is known for its progressive architecture, giving its skyline a recognizable image, but is also surrounded by historic districts that have been transformed into entertainment, dining, and retail spaces.  Visit the outstanding John F. Kennedy Memorial exhibit, “THE SIXTH FLOOR MUSEUM”.  Later this afternoon, travel a short distance back to your Fort Worth hotel.  You may want to return to the excitement of the stockyards on your own this evening.

Fort Worth to Houston to Galveston

Monday.  (2 nights) Leave the metroplex of Dallas-Fort Worth behind and travel to Houston for a GUIDED TOUR of America’s fourth largest city.  See the theatre district, which is second only to New York City, marvel at the world-famous Texas Medical Center, whose 12.8 km² (3,163 acres) and 60 non-profit institutions make it the largest medical complex in the world.  Continue to Galveston, a 19th century Victorian community located on an island on the Gulf Coast.  Stay the next two nights at the ideally located Holiday Inn Resort Galveston – on the Beach.

Galveston to Houston to Galveston

 Tuesday. Return to Houston to visit SPACE CENTER HOUSTON at the Johnson Space Center and learn about America’s history and future of space flight.  Then spend your afternoon enjoying free time to stroll historic DOWNTOWN GALVESTON.  Experience the iron-front architecture of the buildings along The Strand, once called the “Wall Street of the West” with its boutiques and restaurants. Return to your hotel with time to stroll the beaches along the Gulf waters.

Thursday.  Enjoy a free day with time to explore.  Some options for the afternoon: shop at the Mexican market, visit the Alamo or perhaps view the Imax film presentation of the famous battle.  Since your hotel is located right on the RIVERWALK, San Antonio’s shopping and entertainment center, many options are open to you.

Friday.  Today we say goodbye to the Lone Star State and travel northwest to enter the state of New Mexico.

Carlsbad to Albuqerque

Saturday.  Begin your day with a stop at beautiful CARLSBAD CAVERNS NATIONAL PARK.  Enjoy a visit to the scenic caverns with an informative AUDIO GUIDE.  Travel to famous ROSWELL, well known for UFO sightings and lore.  Continue to the heart of New Mexico, Albuquerque.

Albuqerque to Santa Fe

(2 nights) Sunday.  A visit to Albuquerque, the vibrant cultural center of the Southwest, is not complete without learning about the Puebloan culture.  A GUIDED TOUR of the INDIAN PUEBLO CULTURAL CENTER features an included LUNCH at the Indian Pueblo Kitchen for an unforgettable Indigenous dining experience.  Venture onto the TURQUOISE TRAIL, the historic route joining the mining towns of the Sandia Mountains on your way to Santa Fe, the nation’s oldest capital city nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and steeped in history.  Stay at the centrally located Drury Plaza Hotel.

Monday.  A GUIDED TOUR of the city offers a unique look into New Mexico’s Spanish past. The San Miguel Mission, the Palace of the Governors, the State Capitol and more will introduce you to this historic area.  This afternoon enjoy free time in Santa Fe Plaza, the traditional Spanish-American colonial city square in the center of town.

Tuesday.  Travel along the east face of the Rocky Mountains to enter Colorado.  When you reach the mile-high city of Denver, relax and unwind at the Drury Inn Tech Center where you will enjoy their hospitality and evening “Kickback”.

Denver to Cheyenne

Wednesday.  A CITY TOUR details the landmarks, legends and architecture that make the Colorado state capital Denver famous.  After lunch, continue into Wyoming to Cheyenne, capital city and an early settlement of the Wild West.  Visit the Cheyenne Frontier Days OLD WEST MUSEUM dedicated to Cheyenne’s roots and the history of rodeo.

Cheyenne to Deadwood

Thursday.  Travel through the plains of eastern Wyoming to enter South Dakota.  Visit the BLACK HILLS NATIONAL FOREST and stop at the CRAZY HORSE MEMORIAL, an ongoing sculpture being carved in tribute to the North American Indian.  Continue to DEADWOOD, made famous by Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane.  Overnight at The Mineral Palace in the heart of this historic town.

Deadwood to Williston

Friday.  Begin your day with a visit to one of the world’s greatest mountain carvings. MOUNT RUSHMORE NATIONAL MEMORIAL depicts four presidents’ faces and is the world’s largest mountain carving.  It was sculpted from the granite of the Black Hills from 1929 to 1941.   After this awesome sight, travel through the lonesome plains of South Dakota.  Enter North Dakota, continuing your travels through the North Dakota Badlands to Williston for overnight.  Join your travel companions this evening for a HOSTED FAREWELL DINNER.
