This morning your LOCAL GUIDE will take you to the HAIDA HERITAGE CENTRE, a world-class cultural centre which took seven years to complete. The original Museum was opened on this site by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in 1976 and the impressive new complex opened in 2008. Here you will learn about the 14 clans of the Haida people.


Haida Gwaii

Today we’re joined by a LOCAL NATURALIST sharing knowledge about the ecology of the area. Visit the HAIDA VILLAGE OF OLD
MASSETT on the north coast and check out some of the craft shops selling local wares. Next is a stop at NAIKOON PROVINCIAL PARK where you can search for treasures on Agate Beach. You might choose to walk to The Blowhole or to the top of the volcanic Tow Hill for a magnificent view! Return to Village of Queen Charlotte for overnight.


Haida Gwaii

Start your morning in the arts community of TLELL with time to search craft shops for treasures. Lunchtime takes us to TLELL BEACH for a PICNIC LUNCH and beach-time. This afternoon visit the SHORELINE TRAIL where some of the trees are over 500 years old! Learn the story when you visit the remains of the famous GOLDEN SPRUCE. A visit to the PORT CLEMENTS FORESTRY MUSEUM will round off your day. Tonight is feast time — enjoy a wonderful HAIDA FEAST prepared by a Haida CHEF with traditional local foods. Return to Queen Charlotte City for your last night on this beautiful island.


Village of Queen Charlotte to Prince Rupert, BC

This morning we say haw’aa (thank you) and goodbye to beautiful Haida Gwaii as we board the FERRY for our trip to the mainland. Watch for last sightings of whales and enjoy the scenery as we make our way back across the HECATE STRAIT.


Prince Rupert, BC

The morning allows time to visit downtown shops and the acclaimed MUSEUM OF NORTHERN BRITISH COLUMBIA. This afternoon drive to Port Edward, located on the Skeena River and visit the NORTH PACIFIC CANNERY NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE, the oldest surviving salmon cannery village along British Columbia’s coast. It is known today as the North Pacific Historic Fishing Village. Established in 1889, this cannery was typical of those in remote locations in that it provided accommodation through the summer canning season. Little has changed since the plant closed in the late 1960’s. Almost 30 buildings linked by wooden boardwalks are open for viewing.


Prince Rupert to Prince George

Retrace your steps back through north-central British Columbia to Prince George for overnight.


Prince George to Hinton

Continue travelling west. Following a DRIVING TOUR OF JASPER continue to Hinton for overnight. This evening we invite you to a HOSTED FAREWELL DINNER.
